Scrap the Girls December

Well, Christmas is over and after a few days recovery I have felt inspired to get back to some me time and scrapbooking.  This is  a layout inspired by the mood board over at Scrap the Girls.  I loved the colours and the sparkly bits!

I used a very old piece of patterned paper from Urban Lily - it feels like the first time in ages that I've used patterned paper for the background, but thought it worked really well with the feel of the mood board.  Anyway, here it is..

Happy New Year to you all!

Two posts in one day... Scrap the Girls October mood board

This layout I have had sitting around for a couple of weeks, forgot to post it!

I loved the colours in the mood board at Scrap the Girls and thought they went perfectly with these pics of my girls at Torquay beach a few years ago, and the jewels went well with the story...

I really enjoyed putting the embellishment cluster together with this one - it includes sea glass from the beach, stick and twine off a wine bottle, shell from a craft collection, tulle and the hessian lollipop flower as well as some "jewels".

Back to it.. White with 1

September somehow passed by without me doing a lot of (ANY!) scrapping.  I think it was end of term, starting bathroom renovations and getting the flu that just didn't leave me with any creative energy.  So the last couple of weeks I have managed to finish a couple of layouts, this first one for the challenge at White...with 1.  The colour this month was Orchid, and at first I didn't think I had anything in my stash that would work, but found a few scraps of paper and used a Prima mask with watercolour pencils for the background.

Quite happy with the result, including using a dried pressed viola from the garden that I found a couple of weeks ago in the bookcase!

White with 1 - G'day Mate

This is my layout for the August challenge at White... with 1.  It is a picture of me and my Aussie friend Ann drinking sparkling shiraz (big girl's Ribena) on our deck, having a laugh. I found it came together very quickly for me, I do love black and white!

There is some more Studio Calico paper, Prima stamp, old die cut, old Scenic Route chipboard, washi tape, lace from my mother-in-law's collection, Kaisercraft rub-on, Glitz Designs transparency and Simple Stories DIY stamps

1 2 3 Get Scrappy! August board

I have been meaning to enter into the challenges at 1 2 3 Get Scrappy! for ages as I love their tic-tac-toe boards, I think it is a brilliant challenge format.  So finally managed one this month, using the vertical centre line of bugs, grass and butterflies in my layout "Out for a walk"

I've used patterned paper from Studio Calico, Stampin' Up flowers, bingo card from Simple Stories, Prima chipboard, Pink Paislee wooden dragonfly, washi tape, doily, gesso, and a tiny lady bug off one of the girl's old charm bracelets.  It took a while for this layout as I kept fiddling with it, in the end I thought "ENOUGH" and stuck it down!

D-lish Scraps Inspiration Board

Loved the inspiration board at D-lish Scraps this month so thought I'd have a go. Love their online shop also, so many cool bits and pieces.  As the inspiration board was all about love, just had to scrap a photo of Michael that happened to work with the colour scheme!

I have put a little love note in the envelope for later...

CMS Challenge #65

This is the first time I have done a challenge for Color Me Scrappy.  I had a great photo of Abi which just suited the colour scheme.  It was from her eighth birthday party, playing the chocolate game where you get to eat as much chocolate as you can with a knife and fork until the next person rolls a six. Apart from the cardstock, stamps and washi tape which are new I have used some very old stuff from my stash on this layout - 7 Gypsies and MME patterned paper and a Heidi Grace rub-on.  Normally I have to have some re-purposed or handmade embellishments - in this case it is the stamped tabs and the large red plastic paper clip which came in a Christmas cracker.  I think this is because my darling husband always says something along the lines of "I thought you were supposed to use scraps for scrapbooking - how come it costs so much?" Not that he really minds...

OUAS June layout

Gave this month's sketch at Once Upon a Sketch (http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.co.nz/) a go, finished it last week but haven't had a chance to upload it yet.  At the beginning of the week was living Abi's stress with NCEA assignments due then Thursday had 13 for dinner.  Yesterday was Claire's 13th birthday party so she had a few friends over and watched a couple of classic movies... not too hard a party, but still busy!

This layout is of Abi though, in our backyard in Lara in 2006.

This was the sketch

Hope you all like!

CSI 125

Have been very busy today - baked brownie, apple spice cake and afghans as well as doing a lot of house work, washing and ironing.  So am a bit tired, so not sure whether I am making a lot of sense right now. But I did manage to finish the layout for CSI 125! I love this site, (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/) and this particular colour combination is great, I often seem to use teal and lime green...

Here is my layout of the girls with their cousins from my side of  the family...

Thanks for looking...

CSI S365-5 Challenge - Ticket to Ride

This layout was inspired by the S365-5 challenge at CSI (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/). Elements used were buttons, paint, scallops and tying something.  Journalling includes the words fun and show and sort of has a ring around it!  I loved the colours in this challenge and felt they worked quite well with these photos.  The top photo is a little blurred and Abi's face is obscured but I just had to include it for the expression of joy on their faces.  I can remember feeling a little worried when I let them go on this ride all by themselves... but was really pleased they enjoyed it.  I love roller coasters!

Last day of holidays...

This is a post I started to write a couple of months ago, but had some problems with uploading to my blog.  So am finally trying again!

Today is my last day of the school holidays, back to work tomorrow.  I had the best intentions of updating this blog and making it a little more exciting but have left things to the last minute once again!  I have done some scrapbooking over the holidays though

There are a couple more to come another time...
